I know I'm not the first person to say this, or to experience it, but I have to say it anyway.
I'm reading "David Copperfield" by Charles Dickens. I'm halfway through, at the part where David meets a girl he's crazy over (Dora) and her "confidential friend," an older, dour woman hired for the express purpose of being a friend and confidante to this young girl. (Weird, but it's 19th century London.) And who does the dour, old woman turn out to be? David Copperfield's horrible, evil stepfather's sister.
"So what?" you say. "I can't even follow that!"
Okay, okay, I don't blame you. It does sound like a soap opera. BUT...
